I used Dial 7 last week.

$41 is the basic fare excluding tips and tolls. IIRC you'll need to add another $6-7 on top of the fare for the tolls. Then another 18-20% on top. Around $60 at the end of the day.

Having just got back from NYC last week, a lot of receipts suggest an 18% gratuity. 20% is easier to work away from. It used to be a case of doubling the tax but not sure if that works anymore.

The problem with America is nothing is ever as cheap as it appears. And in NYC, nothing is what I would term cheap!
