I think a lot of people understand what I am trying to bring up.

As CPRich suggests, it is supply and demand. However, in FT, we see something different everyday. If the true supply and demand theory works, there is no way for us to score cheap hotels, flights and so on (also, plenty of FTers do not travel based on demand).

For the record, on that day, the buffet is basically empty (less than 10% of capacity).

My point is as a lot of people suggest, you can go to some decent places for breakfast with way much less cost of this "buffet". But why the hotel is charging ridiculously for the breakfast? It is not like they have no competition (For example, Las Vegas - the buffet price about within the same range). Why a hotel will waste a chance to make profit instead of setting a high price that scare people away? Also, unlike order to cook, everything not selected will be destroyed. How a hotel justify such waste?

Bottom line, it is still a breakfast.
