Yes, you will be able to select from exit row seats at T-72 for free if they haven't already been taken by someone willing to pay, or a gold card holder.

I can't really comment on the 772, as I haven't flown one in a while.

Thank you for the reply FenLandK. It looks like Row 33 is about as good as it gets on the 747 (70J) in WT. I don't think there are any exit rows seats as such in WT and I don't mind too much that the seat is a little narrower than normal.
