In that same link, the section that pertains to "Flights within the United States, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Canada" states in the column titled "Number of Bags Allowed":

We are pleased to offer customers in First and Business Class the ability to check three bags at no charge when traveling on American or connecting with British Airways or Iberia.

I believe that verbiage that was quoted came from the "exceptions" list. Another case, IMHO, where AA.com is contradictory (or, at least, isn't clear throughout all of the applicable pages)
