It took me quite a while to enter the 60 odd countries I have been to recently.
one thing I am wondering if if you have visited a lot of other countries, espcially ones that the US does not have close relationships with, does the applicaiton take longer to process. for example, i have visited probably 9 other countries in the past 5 years, many in the EU and also went to China and my application took two weeks. My parents recently applied on 4/5. My mother was approved friday, and my father (who applied earlier than her on 4/5) is still pending approval but has visited many more countries than her in the past 5 years.
my theory is that they might contact the countries to make sure you havent violated immigration laws or anything while you are abroad as that is one of the things they list on the elegibility page of the website. again, just speculation.
