I was shocked as I had never seen a single bed at any chain property. To follow up, would you take your unpacked bags back to the lobby and request a new room, or would you call down on the phone, expecting them to bring the new room key to you?

I've seen packed lounges, theirs had perhaps three tables (including myself) occupied at the evening reception, and breakfast. I saw barely any other non-employees during check-in, or while waiting for the airport shuttle after checkout.
