Westin Palace Milan - extra credit card charges
Just returned from a lovely stay and the Westin Palace Hotel in Milan. Great location, beautiful property, and very eager-to-please front desk management. I won't do a full trip report here, but suffice it to say that overall, I would highly recommend this property.
I'm frustrated, though, that they have charged my credit card not once, but twice, for charges I didn't incur ~ to the tune of almost $800. This was a reward stay (2 nights regular reward, 2 night using Free Weekend nights from fall promo) The processing of this transaction, once I arrived, was apparently a bit of a challenge for them, as this is a fairly new Westin property, from what I understand. They were very anxious to solve the problem, but I fear that this is the origin of the extra charges.
So, when I got home (and discovered this) I called Starwood Platinum line. They don't have access to property-level accounting records, so said I would have to contact the hotel directly. I didn't venture a call, due to the time differences, language barrier, and to a lesser extent the cost. Instead, I chose to email the hotel directly. I've not heard anything back at all in the last 24 hours. I would have expected at the very least an acknowledgement of "Got your note. We're looking into it"
Has anyone experienced anything like this? What's the best way to resolve it? I'm sure they'll make it right, eventually. But frankly, I'm not pleased about them holding my $$ hostage until they figure it out.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
