Cafe des Artistes in Ubud has a terrific nasi goreng done very traditionally (rare to find now in a restaurant, esp. in a western one). The better western restaurants also have some good Indonesian dishes, though priced at several times the warung price for the same dish. In Jl. Petitenget at northern end of Seminyak there is a terrific warung called Eni which is worth a special trip, and hard to spend $10 for a good meal there.
Overall there are more good restaurants than bad, just using common sense it was easy to find a good meal at all price points in Bali. Much easier than in Fiji or Thailand (at least for me).
