Sky Priority Security Line at DTW is slower!
When I get to DTW every week I see the Sky Priority line has like 8 or 9 people in it but the regular line has got at least twice (maybe even 3-4 times) as many people, so I get in SP line... but then minutes I later see person #18 in the regular line get through before me.
There are two TSA agents, one that is dedicated to the regular line and then the other one usually rotates (takes one from regular line, then one SP). Also noticed that some people in the regular line are more aggressive than some of these people in SP line and will walk up to the TSA even though it was SP's turn, and the TSA won't say anything. The kicker: when you go through the SP line and try to move to the security lane all the way on the left to avoid the extra time wasted on that full body scanner... the TSA agent says you cannot go to that lane because it's for regular passengers.
Now with all of that said, it seems the problem is solved if I go into the regular lane. But not always, because sometimes I take the regular line and then finally get to the TSA agent and realize SP would have been faster because THIS TIME the 2nd TSA agent is not taking any regular line people and only SP people.
Additionally, the regular check baggage line seems to have faster-working employees than the SP line. That, plus the fact that the ratio of regular baggage checkers to people in the regular line compared to the ratio of SP baggage checkers to people in the SP line is about the same or better means that the regular check bagged line is faster.
With that said, still it is way too difficult to pick which line is faster because sometimes extra SP baggage checkers will come when that line is slow, sometimes they won't.
Every other airport I have flown Delta has been amazing, especially the ones where they actually check boarding passes at the entrance to SP security line to prevent non-members from using the line. At those places, they also always seem to have a dedicated TSA agent for SP only and allow you to go to whatever lane you want.
Just had to get that off of my chest.
