If I understand correctly these features are not provided all by TripIt. If your online account shows that you have TripIt Pro that part of the process worked. The lounge guide feature is activated when the app validates that you are a Platinum or Centurion cardholder, which also authorizes the upgrade from standard TripIt to TripIt Pro.
This page:
http://www.amextravelapp.com/ (scroll down)
...shows that Platinum cardholders receive three incremental features:
- Receive alerts about flight delays, cancellations, or gate changes
- View alternate flight availability
- Locate airport lounges Platinum Card members can access
It appears that only the first two are provided by TripIt Pro.
The page shows a distinctive icon for the Lounge Locator, but I do not find this in the app. Instead, I find lounge details embedded in the Airport Guide. However, I logged out of of the app, and then logged in using a different Amrican Express User ID (non-Platinum), and I was still able to see the lounge information in the Airport Guide. D
oes anyone see a separate Lounge Locator feature in the app?
I don't see any reference to organizing frequent flyer accounts in the American Express Travel app. I do, however, find this feature in the Android TripIt application. We should not think of the Amex Travel App as an enhanced TripIt application, but rather as a distinct application with TripIt
account integration.
