I'm left wondering if the "weird bagel and cheese thing" was (a variant of) a Hampton "bagel topper"? Or haven't you ever run across that particular delicacy?

Pinot noir? Oh my, but you do have highfalutin' tastes! I believe the token is intended as the equivalent of a Hampton snack offering. When I stayed at the HGI Tampa - Ybor City years ago, the manager made of point of recommending I use the pantry voucher for free beer. Perhaps that's more what you have in mind?
