Check to see if you have connection sharing set to "Share a public IP address" under internet in airport utility after selecting your AE.

If you get a warning about double NAT, just dismiss it (ignore it). That's what you want.

That said, I tried getting it to to work at the Westin Times Sq recently, and I couldn't get it to work there, something funky was going on there. I gave up since I get free internet there anyway. Other hotels, it works fine. I didn't try bridge mode. In "bridge mode" they see every device behind the AE.
