I had a great stay at the Jefferson recently. The location is a bit awkward (further up from the Hay Adams at 16th at M), but otherwise I thought it was a simply excellent small luxury hotel. It is a bit under the radar compared to the other grande dames, kargely because it has fairly recently reopened after a comprehensive reno - but I would stay there over the Willard and Hay Adams.
