It had been my understanding that both AF and KL would launch services to Reykjavik this summer for the reasons you describe. However, Icelandair went double daily on CDG, JFK and almost double daily on AMS. Seems to have scared away AF and KL. DL reduced frequency from daily to 5 times a weel. I love Iceland and go there regularly but I dont see the DL services working w/o AF or KL.
Would definitely love AF to open a flight to Iceland
