So, just to be clear, even if I reserve a non-smoking room with king bed (as reflected in the confirmation), and all the hotel has is a smoking room with 2 single beds, then I'm stuck.

Moreover, if I decide to go to another hotel with the room I want, the hotel is still legally free, in Starwood's view, to charge me the standard no-show fee for that room (if I show up after 6pm)?

Also, this is flatly inconsistent with what several telephone represensatives. I have called three times and was told three times (once requiring Mike's assistance) that I am assured of getting what is in the room description in the confirmation. Indeed, each time the representatives are careful to point out that my room preferences aren't guaranteed in the case of reservatiosn amde with points, which suggests that they have been instructed to say that the bedding/smoking type is guaranteed for paid reservations, but not for points reservations. Starwood agents should be told to say that bedding and smoking preferences are *not* guaranteed, if that is indeed Starwood's policy.
