thanks nacho for your input, especially about the CPH hotels - I will check them out and really like that you can book a family room in Scandic hotels. Two queen beds are usually fine for us but it is not always easy to figure out if there are queen beds or just single beds here in Europe
In regard to Kids - officially the Courtyard Basle only accepts 3 persons per room - we stayed with two kids (7 and 11) and there was no issue - only difference was that we got charged an extra breakfast which was fine with me given the value. There isn't really any space to put in more than a crib in the standard rooms so as long as you can fit in two in the queen bed and one in the crib it should be fine. Otherwise you might need to look at other choices or an upgraded room which I have no expierence with in Basle.
