I requested seats last week through the AA PLT desk for an AA codeshare on IB, MIA-BCN. They wouldnt give me the IB PNR (is there one?) and they said they could request a seat for me, but not guarantee it. I asked for an aisle seat near the front of the Y cabin, if they could not get me an exit row.
A properly trained rep can view/change seats AND give you the IB locator. Hang up and try again.
