^^^^^^^^^ I really liked that you gave specific ideas about what to do. I do know that some airports had someone called a "Travel Assistant" to help passengers with various problems, but at least one airport discontinued this program in January 2011. Not sure about other airports. I also know that there is someone called a "Liason" and is out of hte customer service office supposedly open at least until 7:00 pm or 8:00 pm at night. Not sure how helpful they would be. I think the best thing to do is prepare ahead of time if you do have to travel -- and decline travel whenever possible.
