It isn't an independent or statistically valid survey, rather it is a commercial and marketing effort. Some airports refuse to participate (e.g. LAX is not included, in fact 20% of the largest airports are excluded from the survey). Really meaningless in terms of pax comfort, which is presumably what we on FT are meaning by "best airport".
