Whata load of old tosh !

So I have to hold a credit card do I ? No and thats my personal choice.

I DO hold a large amount of cash in that account, so I am happy to put a deposit down to guarantee any extras charged to my room.

And, yes, Hilton DO take a deposit from the card, and let me charge things to my room, as do IHG.

Got to say, just because I do not want to be one of the 98% who DO own a credit card, I don't see why I am receiving this feedback.
