I do agree that it's a good idea to at least look over Virgin's award options, but
some of us will never see anywhere
near 100,000 Virgin points, nor will we be traveling to Japan or South Africa in the forseeable future. For me, I'd be happy to put the HHonors points towards a trip where there's a killer (upgradeable) airfare available, but the room rates aren't so hot at a destination.
As for Hawaii, I'm one of the few people who actually
likes Honolulu!
