I'm about to move an amount of cash into BD. I've never had an account there before. I saw the discussion in posts 245, 246, and 248 about eligibility for the mileage awards if not a first-time member. While I agree that it makes common sense that BD probably doesn't allow constant opening and reopening of accounts to take advantage of the bonuses that mostly accumulate in the first year, I've seen nothing in the information on the website that confirms this. Given some of the comments about the quality of BD's website, I suspect there's no easy link to the terms and conditions there, but has anyone seen confirmation in the terms and conditions in their membership packets?
I know that credit card issuers have become more stringent about using the term "first-time customers" rather than "new cards" or "new accounts" in their terms and conditions when offering mileage-based incentives so I'm curious to see if BD has done the same in their T&Cs. It's been so long since banks gave away free toasters for opening a new account, I'm not sure what the definition of a new account is anymore!
