Really? The front desk makes a couple mistakes at a resort concerning the fact that you wanted to pay in a manner that is different than the other 98% of guests at that hotel and you want to kiss off the entire Marriott program?
Did you expect the waiter to say, "Oh, I'm sorry. You are a status matched gold customer. We'll just float this beer on your folio until you can stop by the front desk."?
Furthermore, when one checks in with a credit card, debit card, or crisp $100 one is forced to "prepay" for the entire stay. For credit/debit users, the authorization on the card is essentially the "prepayment" but no hotel I know of that's part of a large chain let's you check in on your honor.
