Are you planning to book/pay for five nights, but not actually staying at the hotel?
In that case the nights wouldn´t count for status, as you´d have to physically check-in. (though they likely wouldn´t care whether you stayed for the entire five nights)

I'm planning to stay in Vancouver for five nights. My current reservation in the city is at the Four Seasons hotel. I would then stay at the Fairmont Empress for two nights, followed by the Fairmont Chateau Whistler for three nights. If I stayed at a Fairmont in Vancouver, I would have ten nights by the end of the trip and would be at the Premier level. So I would be willing to stay at a Vancouver Fairmont for five nights instead of the Four Seasons only if I would have the Premier benefits honored from day one.
