I was wondering the same thing. Based on my last experience there (Aug 2010), service was awful and place just felt cheap. (I didn't use the spa, though). It is probably the single hotel I've stayed at in DC that I would never stay at again, and I had previously (circa 2005/2006) been a fan of this hotel.
On topic with the thread, I've never found a place I loved so much in DC that I'd pay a significant premium over many of the others. Recently, I've liked the Park Hyatt as the second category room (Park Deluxe, I think) is a very nice junior suite type arrangement at a (usually) very good price. F&B there is probably the best I've had in DC. MO has nice rooms but, as I said, service really not up to par. Last time I stayed at the RCs, I liked them (esp. Georgetown).

I'd agree with this. While I don't like the Park Hyatt at all, I understand it's appeal, and it's a nice option. The neighborhood, however, is rather dead. Same issue with the neighboring Ritz Carlton, as well as the Fairmont if that's on your radar.
