+1, but for more flexibility, buy the outbound you want and put the return in a refundable fare class. when you figure out your dates, rebook the return at the lowest fare. you'll pay no penalty -- the fee charged is based only on changed segments -- and the fare you refare into will be based on fares at the time of purchase. just make sure your outbound fare has a long max stay.

otoh, i don't understand the fuss if you're getting reimbursed -- present your company with the information you posted here and ask what they recommend. if they say buy the one-way, enjoy your Y/B fare with extra EQMs and free mileage upgrades. if they say buy the round trip because it's cheaper, enjoy your extra segment.

(i was in a similar situation, relocating overseas for 13 months. since the max ticket validity is 12 months, i got reimbursed for 2 round-trip tickets. )
