New Flyer Wondering if US is the best Star carrier to commit miles to
Hi,
I recently got a new job which will have me taking between 4 and 8 flights per month. I live in IAH but my employer books my tickets. We can only get direct flights if they're no more than $100 pricier than a connecting one. Apparently, US one stops are by far the cheapest in my market, and even though connections in CLT aren't the most convenient, I go where they tell me to.
My goal is obtaining status for seat upgrades, I don't much care about free flights.
So my question is, do you think it is worth it to put my miles toward US's Dividend Miles rather than CO's Onepass, even though I live in a CO hub?
Airline pricing models change constantly as we all know, but it certainly seems for now that at least half of my flights will be US and the rest will be a smorgasbord of AA/DL/UA/CO. Is CO's program really that much better than US's, as many people imply? Is it much more difficult to get upgrades on US than CO, assuming equal status levels?
Thanks!
