I checked on SQ website what they had to FUK and the route they came up with went LAX-NRT-SIN-FUK and it had two overnights and took 48 hours - on the outbound. The return was better but not a lot better. Of course it would give me tremendous numbers of UA miles. Getting me closer to 1K and all but frankly I'd rather go with e.g. Asiana who can supposedly get me here with just one connection in about 16 hours. I will call the airline and see what they can do and report back. But in true FT spirit perhaps my biggest regret about the earthquake is not getting a chance to ride the SQ 380 to NRT - they have put the 777 back on that route.
So they were willing to re-route you, no charge? I would just get them to refund the ticket due to the "radiation" and buy something new via ICN!
