Flight/Origin-Destination: IAH - YYC AC8105
Date: April 1, 2011
Cabin: J
Status: AC*SE

Pre departure
Was check in quick and efficient? Yes
Did you use priority security (if eligible) and if so, was it quick and efficient? Yes, and Yes.

Did you use the Maple Leaf lounge and if so, any feedback in regards to service, food and drinks? No MLL lounge at IAH, but the CO lounge was okay
Was priority boarding offered (if applicable to your status) and efficient? Yes, and Yes.
If there was a delay, did the gate agent provide timely updates? We were informed after boarding that the flight would be diverted to YQR to pick up fuel due to strong headwinds before continuing to YYC. Some PAX (not me) were upset that they weren't informed before boarding, so that they could attempt to make alternate travel arrangements from IAH. But in fairness to the crew, I think that this may have been because the captain was in the operations room until the last minute trying his best to find a direct route.

Onboard - J cabin:
Were the crew professional & well groomed? Yes, and Yes.
If there was a delay, were you provided with timely updates? See above re: headwinds/diversion/refueling.
Was the IFE activated on the ground? Yes
Was a pre-departure beverage offered on the ground? Yes, water only.
Did crew offer to hang your jacket? N/A
Were newspapers & menus distributed and meal orders taken (Please specify when meal orders were taken - on the ground or in the air)? Newspapers distributed on the ground. No meal orders taken, just an arrival with a tray and "would you like some lunch today?"
Did crew offer a hot towel prior to the meal service? Yes
Approximately how long after take off did it take for the first meal service to be completed? (From takeoff to all items collected) 60 minutes.
How was the quality of all the meals? Fair.
Did the cabin crew continuously top up the beverage of your choice throughout the flight? Nope. After meal service was done, the J attendant was nowhere to be found.

Post departure
If you have checked baggage, did it arrive within reasonable period of time? No.

Overall experience/any other comments
All in all a very bizarre flight what with the diversion, refueling, and irritated PAX. One fellow AC*SE member sitting in J was quite upset that he wasn't informed of the diversion before boarding at IAH, and that he wasn't allowed to disembark in YQR to attempt to find another connecting flight to YVR.

Things got quite heated between the J FA and AC*SE PAX to the point where the FA said, "Sir, I don't have to put up with this crap from you. It serves me just fine if you fly another airline, I don't care."

To be fair to the FA, the PAX was being very unreasonable, so it's understandable why PAX-FA tensions were high Maybe if the FA was around more often in J, she would have been able to ply the upset PAX with more booze?
