Just saw this article, "LEAKED: Jetstar's Project Sirius seats and cabin layout for the Boeing 787" from the
Australian Business Traveller.

I don't like the idea of any airline using those 'stand-up' style seats, but thankfully they seem to be a "rejected concept". But I was suddenly excited to see what, according to the article, would be JetStar's new cabin layout. Those seats looked great, and it seemed that, although they look like business class style, they are in fact for regular economy and not StarClass seats.
"Yes," I thought, "this would be fantastic, and could perhaps be done because if one uses the space above you can fit in almost as many seats as per the normal squeezed-in cattle class style."
They look comfortable and rather classy, and such cool seats would make mark up JetStar to be one of my favourite airlines. It would beat RyanAir any day. I bags the top seat!
It was then that I discovered the following words at the bottom of the article:
"Happy April Fool's Day from the team at Australian Business Traveller!"
And now I feel grumpy again and must get back to my essay
However, despite the fact that JetStar's "Project Sirius" isn't a real thing, what do other FTers think of this sort of seat-design? Would it be possible for a budget airline to get the same size 'market' if they had these, rather than the squashed-in cattle class, as is common with cheap airlines these days? Would it be economical?
Makes me wonder what StarClass would look like if this was just the regular seating design!
