Same with me at JFK T8. I had to make it clear that I wasn't complaining about how long I was being punished/forced to wait for a pat down, but that my belonging were unsecured and out of sight. I think next time I know I'm going to have to wait for a pat down I'm going to leave my laptop in my carryon.
