Last year we stayed 9 ni. at the Dolphin in Orlando at a conference. We are SPG Gold....booked a balcony room and were offered an upgrade to club level - we wanted to keep our balcony room, but were given club level privs. NOW....this year they say we only get our Gold upgrade if we book a standard room. If we book balcony rooms we do not get an upgrade. They said that only Platinum status are upgraded to club level.
What is up with that? Is this a new policy or just something specific to the Dolphin? I don't understand what incentive I have to pay the extra for a balcony room when I will (upon availability of course) be upgraded from my standard room.....but if I book a balcony room be given no upgrade at all.
Can someone enlighten me?
