I agree that the HFCS pocket-paranoia is overblown, but for a number of products, like soft drinks, the change in sweetener is associated with a change in other parts of the recipe. CocaCola and Sprite outside of the US often use sugar and have a distinctly different taste not just associated with the returnable glass bottle they come in.

Not sure which rum you were talking about, blackstraps have appeared recently.
