Arrow Hilton Garden Inn Minneapolis Downtown {US-MN}

I searched but couldn't find a thread covering all Minneapolis properties, so am doing a mini-review of this one in case anyone is interested.

I arrived via the train from the airport (Government Plaza stop) - the six blocks are kind of long carrying a bag; pulling a rollaboard would have been easier. Check-in was incredibly fast; I had booked a King, so not sure there was really anything to be upgraded to here. Vouchers given for both days' breakfast, as well as three bottles of water (one per day, plus one for the stay?). Tiny lobby, with most of the ground floor space taken up by the restaurant, which itself isn't huge.

Getting off the elevator, hallways gave a faint 70s/80s vibe, but not at all shabby. Room itself seemed a bit drab to me, but otherwise okay. Microwave and fridge provided (pantry sells frozen burritos, etc.), though I only used the former for individual mugs of tea. No tub - shower stall only, slightly awkward spacing issue as I found I needed to open the door afterwards, step beyond the bathmat to close the door, and then dry off. No issues with noise or heating, once I figured out how to program the latter; the setup was somewhat different than any I've run across.

I dined at the hotel the first night: fish and chips plus a beer (Summit EPA is really good!) - excellent service, decent grub, I was satisfied. I found breakfast disappointing ... so-so omlette with horrific bagels (think: store brand frozen), next day I tried the toast, which was ... weird. Unlike other HGI's, you schlepp your own beverages - staff "interaction" comes when they bring the hot food you've ordered from the cook directly.

Second night, I decided to try the Normandy (at the Best Western!) halfway between the hotel and the train. Happy hour drink prices were cheap, but a la carte menu items add up, still glad I tried their walleye (a fish I'd heard of but had never run across). Excellent service from the busy bartender.

Would I recommend it, or stay there again? Probably, although without wheels the location seemed a bit remote for a "downtown" property.
