Given those hours, although I would normally say jump on the train, i'd agree with Raffles, save a fortune and get some sleep at the Regal airport hotel which is connected to the airport. It's not a luxurious hotel.
If you're plane is late you might even miss the last train to the city (0048 hours)
We've stayed at the Regal when we've had late scheduled arrivals into HK - after 10 pm i.e. excluding delay & early 9 am departures to China.
They've been occasions when arrivals have been so delayed.. Monsoons, typhoons, fog in China etc that we're glad we always limo in ( if one is staying in HK ) & feel really bad for those who were hoping to catch the train which service would have ended for the night by the time one gets through immigration / baggage claim.
No luxury at airport, best get a club floor room at Regal.
