I have an eeePC1000 that came with 2 SSDs, a 8GB and a 32GB. The 32GB drive was slower and died on me so I replaced it with a 64GB drive. It performs quite nicely and quickly with Ubuntu on it. I think monahos is it exactly on point ... HDs are cheaper, so they're used instead.
