We always take private tours and found that Access Italy is very very good. They drive you right up to whatever you are viewing (leaning tower of Pisa, etc.) rather than a bus in the car park. You also have the luxury of deciding when you want to stop and use the loo or get a glass of wine or stretch your legs, etc. rather than 35 - 50 people ugh!
