Trip Report: Maui Sheraton vs Maui Westin

I just got back from a lovely week in Maui. After reading other posts in the forum I decided to stay at the Sheraton. We had a reservation for 8 days. We got offered a Deluxe Ocean Front Room for a little extra each night it was well worth the upgrade from the partial ocean view room we reserved. We ended up checking out midweek and staying in Hana for a night. When we got back we decided to try the Westin for the last couple of nights (and so I could get my 25th stay).

The difference was amazing. After one sleepless night at the Westin we moved back to the Sheraton for the last night of our trip.

The Westin did upgrade us for free from a partial to a full ocean view. The Westin was a zoo with people and timeshare salesguys all over the place. We got stuck on a low floor in a smoking room on a non-smoking reservation. They moved us to one of the top floors with the ocean view. The room was half the size of the Sheraton rooms and is like a dorm room. We could hear people flushing toilets all night, the elevator running all night and the people next door watching TV. I got no sleep. I checked out the next day and moved back to the tranquil Sheraton.
