Not too long ago, I regularly carried an Eee 900 in my checked luggage as a spare in case my unreliable corporate Dell from hell died on me. It came in useful on a couple of occasions in that respect (not to mention, sometimes having two notebooks is just nice). Eventually, my Eee passed to another member of the family who needed something small and mobile.

Fast forward 18 months or so and I'm in the market for a Netbook. There's plenty out there but they all have Windows 7 conventional HDDs that aren't good for checking. What happened? Does anyone (other than Apple with their expensive Air) still make models with SSD storage (and Linux)?
