another suggestion could be the Hospes group's Hotel Lancaster ...not grand and not new modern but elegant, stylish and cosy .

others you may look at but not grand nor luxury :

- hotel tremoille near the athenee but its a conran venture [ iirc ]

- hotel pershing ....tiny rooms but go for the suites ...an andree putman gem

If all else fails then you shojuld consider the shangri la ..its brand new and its very luxurious
The Raffles Paris decor looks classical to me and kinda like another Parisan Palace hotel. However, the designer is the very contemporary Mr Philip Stark. Confused.
