Although there might not be a huge tsunami when the big one hits BC, Richmond is a disaster waiting to happen. Below high tide, protected by levies, and on soil that will liquefy in the event of an earthquake. Which altogether means it might very well be as bad as the tsunami this time.

In addition it appears that building codes in Vancouver only mandate to build for a 7 earthquake (or something like that). While the expectation is for a significantly larger earthquake.

OTOH, while it could happen tomorrow, could as well be another hundred years. In California, they have been warning for at least thirty years that the next big one will be within ten years.
