Mandarin Oriental Paris opens this summer (just down the street from the Renaissance). That may be a good option for OP if the travel dates fit.
it is indeed strange and not to mention telling that the Raffles Paris does not immediately spring to mind !! - esp with its ever so trendy designs
another suggestion could be the Hospes group's Hotel Lancaster ...not grand and not new modern but elegant, stylish and cosy .
others you may look at but not grand nor luxury :
- hotel tremoille near the athenee but its a conran venture [ iirc ]
- hotel pershing ....tiny rooms but go for the suites ...an andree putman gem
If all else fails then you shojuld consider the shangri la ..its brand new and its very luxurious
