Somewhat OT, but I seem to have hit another problem with buying miles. On the 22nd March, I was gifted 31,200 miles (under the current offer) and these miles posted about 60 hours later. The miles I had bought on the 22nd had still not posted by Monday this week, although my credit limit with AMEX was reduced by £399 showing that the purchase was pending. On Monday when I spoke to EC I was told that they would get back to me with the reason why the purchase was taking so long. Having just rung the EC again to see if there was any progress, I was told that because I had already been gifted 31,200 miles this year, there was no scope for me to buy any miles for myself. Effectively the gift had used up my full annual allowance.
My reading of the terms and conditions is that a BAEC member has both an annual limit as to the number of miles he can purchase for himself, and a separate annual limit for the number of miles he can receive from gifts. Last year I was certainly allowed to both buy and receive gifts up to the limit. Of course, the terms and conditions on ba.com are not up to date, making reference to the previous limitis of both 19,000 and 24,000.
Does anyone else have any views on this matter, or was I just lucky last year?
Is there an email address I could use for ba.com to query the issue - the lady I spoke with at the EC didn't seem interested in passing on my questions/concerns.
Thanks for any help.
