I know CO lists the upgrade standby list so you can try and gauge your chances.
Does UA have something similar? I couldn't find it on their mobile website.
UA does not have a mobile app but has it on the Gate display.
Be aware the CO app only shows those who have checked in and therefore is not very meaningful until close to departure.
