I've noticed this, too. But it isn't my biggest word-crutch annoyance trigger, though. All too often, I hear a GA, FA, or captain announce: "I'd LIKE to welcome you all aboard," or "UA would LIKE to be the first to welcome you to xxx." As if something is stopping them from doing so.
Plus, it is generally bad to use the passive voice in a phrase like that. Stating, "UA welcomes you to ORD," rather than that they'd like to welcome you would be more appropriate in most cases.
