Not sure this passes muster when thrown up against the Mileage Plan General Terms and Conditions. At the very least, the nomination to MVP status doesn't.
"No benefit of Mileage Plan membership - including Mileage credit, award travel, upgrade certificates, companion certificates, and elite status nominations - may be sold, purchased, or bartered, except to the extent permitted through Points.com."
Not sure about the selling of advice piece.
I looked up the eBay listing and there is an image of an MVP Gold card with a name and MP number on it. If the cardholder produced the listing, he can probably expect to have his account suspended or worse. But then again, there is the part about the nomination and Golds can't nominate so it is a bit confusing.
