Does anyone else find it odd/funny that UA staff frequently use the phrase "at this time" instead of just "now"?

"At this time, we would like to invite Global Services..."
"At this time, you may switch on your electronic devices..."
"At this time, the captain has advised that you return to your seats..."

It's not something I'd ever even say and I don't know anyone aside from airline staff who use it.
