How dim should cabins lights be on an A320 at take off/landing at night?

Hi,

On a recent LHR-EDI BA flight ( A320) I was surprised as we turned onto the runway that there was no announcement that the cabin lights were going to be dimmed for take off and there appeared to be no noticeable change in cabin brightness as we took off as all of the main cabin lights were on ( I could see other aircraft on the taxiway behind us and all the cabin lights were off)

The same thing happend on landing ( no noticeable change in cabin brightness) but as we turned onto stand the cabin lights became a little brighter.

I mentioned this politely to the cabin crew as I thought this was unusuall ( all my previous nighttime BA flights had the cabin lights fully off for take off/landing) but they said that the cabin lights were dimmed at the " Dim 2" setting on the A320 lighting control panel on the bulkhead) and I left it at that.

Is this unsual as I thought all main cabin lights had to be off for take off /landing per CAA regulations?

Regards
