We just checked out of the Pretoria Sheraton after a one night stay. We were well content. We had a rental car, and this was our final night before flying out of JNB. The hotel was easy to find, coming in from the east. (The M2 highway becomes Pretorius Street going thru Pretoria; the hotel is one block north at the corner of Church and Wessel.) Parking was 25 rand, or about $4. It was a fast 45 km drive to the JNB Airport this morning.

The hotel was extremely quiet last night. It was Sunday night, between Christmas and New Years. We had paid for a Towers Room, and persuaded the check in person to give us a suite. (I am Starwood Gold.) It was very nice and fresh, decorated predominantly in beige. We had a gorgeous view over the gardens and some spectacular building - the Parliament, by any chance?

They closed the Towers lounge last night, as only 2 of us were on the floor. They gave us afternoon tea, and gave us breakfast downstairs this morning - which meant we got a hot breakfast as opposed to the continental one served in the lounge. There is free internet access in the lounge, with two computers.

The Pretoria Sheraton is the only 5 star hotel in Pretoria. After the inefficiencies and somewhat dilapidated state of the locally owned hotels we had used for the past two weeks, it was a pleasure to return to this level of hotel.
