Another peeve from this past weekend: hotels that screen overtly political or religious programming in the lobby, lounge, or breakfast area, especially when there's no good way to escape it. Granted, this was a mostly-empty airport HIX (my "crack the case" run...) but since IHG is a fairly big global hotel network I think they're fair game. Flatscreen in the breakfast area, mounted into the wall so you couldn't channel surf, no remote in sight, showing a Southern Baptist sermon on a local cable access channel. I'm not so thin-skinned that I'd find some random sermon offensive; I just thought it was an unusual choice for a hotel lobby. I think if I owned a hotel, I'd go with CNN, ESPN, and maybe a financial channel. I'd probably stay way from MSNBC, Fox News, TBN, etc. I'm sure opinions will vary here, but it's a peeve of mine.

You should visit the Hampton Inn/Suites in Lufkin, TX... I spent a few nights working on a project in that area last summer, and it was the only HHonors property within an hour. They have this HUGE Pentecostal campground across the street, and they have these LOUD and wild meetings at all hours of the night. And good luck complaining to the front desk, because... well, let's just say that the owners or at least a good portion of the employees are part of the group that does it's business across the street.
